Worcester Tea Bowl and Saucer, Decorated in Underglaze Blue with Formal Flowers, Honey Gold Leaves and Stems, Gold Dentil Rim and Base, c1785
A very fine and delightful Worcester tea bowl and saucer, dating from c1785. This delightful pair is decorated with sprays of formal flowers in blue and gold. The body of the bowl and saucer is of smooth soft paste porcelain.
The main body of tea bowl is beautifully decorated with sprays of formal flowers of underglaze blue flowers, their stems and leaves finely drawn in rich honey gold; the fineness of the gilding is exquisite. The decoration comprises three main flower bouquets with lesser sprigs between them. The top and inner rim are gilded, the inner rim with gilt dentil decoration. The lower body of the tea bowl has a decorative gilt dentil band.
A single back to back flower sprig decorates the inside base of the tea bowl.
The main body of the saucer is again beautifully decorated with sprays of formal flowers of underglaze blue flowers, their stems and leaves finely drawn in rich honey gold; the fineness of the gilding is exquisite. The decoration comprises three main flower bouquets with lesser sprigs between them. The top and inner rim are gilded, the inner rim with gilt dentil decoration.
A single back to back flower sprig decorates the inside base of the saucer. This within a circle of dentil gilding.

Marks:
There are no manufacturer's marks on either item, but is from the famous Worcester factory and dates from c1785.
Condition:
Generally this beautiful Worcester tea bowl and saucer is in good condition with no chips, cracks, repairs or restoration. It does have some wear to some of the gilding, mainly to the dentil circle around the foot rim of the tea bowl and to the flower in the bottom of the tea bowl.
There is also some scratch marks in the glaze at the base of the tea bowl.
