A very fine and delightful Worcester bread and butter or cake plate, dating from c1785. An Eighteenth century tea set included only two large plates, one for cake the other for bread and butter. This delightful plate is decorated with sprays of formal flowers in blue and gold. The body of the plate is of smooth soft paste porcelain.

The main body of the plate is beautifully decorated with sprays of formal flowers of underglaze blue flowers, their stems and leaves finely drawn in rich honey gold; the fineness of the gilding is exquisite. The decoration comprises three main flower bouquets with lesser sprigs between them. The top and inner rim are gilded, the inner rim with gilt dentil decoration.
A single back to back flower sprig decorates the inside base of the plate. This within a circle of dentil gilding.
