A charming Worcester Bread and Butter or Cake Plate, beautifully decorated by hand with cornflower sprigs and garlands, c1795. Although there is no manufacturer's mark on this item, I believe it to be from the Worcester factory.

The body of the plate is 'shanked' moulded (spiral fluting) to the rim. The plate is beautifully decorated, hand painted with an abundance of evenly spaced 'Cornflowers' to the centre of the plate. The rim has a delightful garland of 'Cornflowers' linked with a garland of green foliage.
The pretty hand painted 'Cornflowers' are executed in blue, pink and green enamels. The scalloped rim of the plate is gilded.
Although there is no manufacturer's marks on this items, I believe it to be from the Worcester factory.
This elegant plate is in generally very good condition with no chips, cracks, repairs or restoration. The only minor imperfection is wear to the gilded rim of the plate, as shown below.
