The body of this coffee can and saucer is of a circular shape with vertical moulded fluting.

The decoration of the body of the coffee can and saucer is of an applied gold Etruscan border, a design quite synonymous with the English Regency period of the early nineteenth century. This pattern is also sometimes referred too as the 'Greek Key' pattern. It is listed in the patterns of the Chamberlain Worcester factory as 'Hambleton, gold Etruscan border'. This design is quite striking in appearance especially with the very rich honey coloured gilding.

The coffee can is a straight sided shape and has a fluted body and a loop shaped handle like the tea cup.

The gold Etruscan border is applied around the top portion of the can in the rich honey colourer gold. There is a gilded rim and a gilded line round the base of the can.

The elegant loop handle is typical of this early nineteenth century period and is embellished with golden edges and a central gilded line round the back of the handle.

The underside of the can is unmarked.

The saucer has the same fluted body and gold Etruscan border decoration. The centre portion of the saucer has a gilded circle.

There is no pattern number on the base of the saucer.

This is a delightful Chamberlain Worcester Coffee Can & Saucer, 'Hambleton-fluted' shape, gold Etruscan border, pattern number 354, c1805.

This coffee can and saucer comes from a teaset that has some pieces marked with the pattern number 354. Also, the teapot cover has the 'Chamberlain Worcester' mark inside the lid. It was usual that only the teapot lid was marked with the 'Chamberlain Worcester' mark. This delightful coffee can and saucer, decorated with the 'gold Etruscan pattern' dates from c1805.

The teapot and the 'Chamberlain Worcester Warranted' mark in the cover is shown below:

Condition:

The coffee can does have a restored chip on its rim and it has then been re-gilded. There still remains a tiny chip to the left of the restored area, as can be seen in the first and second picture below. I have included blue arrow to indicate the extent of this restored area.

The only imperfection to the saucer is some extensive wear to the gilding, especially on the rim area.
