The tea bowl has the Royal blue stripe equally spaced in six positions round its body. The centre of each blue stripe has a white gap in which there is a blue diamond in a gilt circle. The blue stripes are bounded with gilded lines and on the blue strip a gilded cross design.

Between the blue stripes are festoons of stylised flowers and foliage in underglaze blue and gold. It is certainly a very elegant design of decoration.

The tea bowl has a scalloped rim which is also gilded.

The tea bowl stands upon a raised foot rim at the top of which is a gilded line round the base of the bowl.

Inside the bowl of the tea bowl is an underglaze blue and gilded star.

The saucer is also fluted and has the same charming decoration as the tea bowl.

There are no manufacturer's marks on this tea bowl and saucer, but they are from a set where several pieces are marked with the underglaze blue 'S' used at the Caughley factory, c1775-90.
