This very elegant teapot is of a 'globular' shape and of excellent proportions. It is made of soft-paste porcelain and is typical of the shape popular at the end of the eighteenth century.

The smooth body of this beautiful teapot is delightfully decorated with a very pretty scattered flower sprigs round the body of the teapot and cover. These floral decorations are exquisitely painted by hand and of striking colours. The central larger bouquets of flowers on either side of the teapot are a beautiful feature.

The pretty flower sprigs comprise a variety of coloured flowers and their green foliage. There are pink, orange and purple flowers with green foliage.

The cover of the teapot is decorated with three differing flower sprigs around the top surface. These are painted in orange, purple and pink with green foliage to each.

This same pink flower decoration is repeated on the top and underside of the teapot's spout.

The loop handle is embellished with pink decoration to the back portion emulating a flower with a line of tiny dots on either side.

There is a raised collar to the teapot into which the lid fits beautifully. There are six pierced straining holes in the body to strain the tea leaves when pouring from the spout. There is a simple, but beautifully formed round sectioned handle and spout; these balancing each other very well to give a most pleasing shape.

The finial of the cover is in the form of a moulded flower, the stem of which and two moulded green leaves anchor it to the cover.

The flower finial is an open flower with orange edged petals and green centre stamens. There is a green high lighted stem to the flower. The cover has a hole from which to allow the steam from the tea to escape.

The teapot stands upon a raised foot rim and the lid has a raised collar on the underside to prevent it from slipping off once in place on the teapot.

This is a delightfully decorated teapot from the famous Worcester factory, c1775. The flower decoration and flower finial to the cover is just so elegant and colourful.
