This very fine quality sucrier and cover is moulded with 'shanked' (or spiral) lines, which was the latest design in fashion at the later period of the eighteenth century. These moulded lines are very finely potted and create a most decorative effect.

The decoration of the sucrier and cover is a charmingly simple floral sprig decoration in a rich honey coloured gilding. There are three evenly spaced gilded roses around the body of the sucrier. Then, in between these charming and finely executed roses are three single gilded leaves.

Above the roses and leaf decoration is a serrated gilded line. Then the rim and foot of the sucrier are also gilded.

The cover to the sucrier carries the same spiral shanked moulding, with the same decoration as on the body of the sucrier. This includes the three evenly spaced gilded roses which have in between three single gilded leaves. A serrated gilded line runs around the low domed lid and the rim is also gilded.

The finial to the cover is magnificent, very crisply potted and exquisitely decorated with gilt decoration. This is a very striking feature of this lid and echoes the quality of this Worcester sucrier and cover. This shape of finial is also one favoured by the 'Flight and Barr' Worcester factory.

There are no manufacturer's marks on the sucrier or cover, but it is from the famous Worcester factory c1790.

This is a beautiful Worcester 'Spiral Shanked' circular sucrier and cover, 'gilded rose and foliate' decoration, c1790.

Condition:

This magnificent Worcester sucrier and cover are in good condition with no cracks, repairs or restoration. The gilt decoration is in excellent condition with only  wear to the rim of the sucrier bowl. There are just a few very tiny nibbles to the rim of the cover and foot of the sucrier, as shown, but these are very small and certainly do not detract in any way.

An excellent Worcester sucrier for the collector of fine Worcester or eighteenth century English porcelain.
