The bowl is made of soft paste porcelain that is translucent
when held to strong light and shows the characteristic Worcester 'duck egg
colour'
body.
The 'Fence Pattern' as this pattern is known was a popular one
at the Worcester factory and gets its name from the fence that appears in the
main print on the side of the bowl. The fence is surrounded by pretty flowers
and foliage. This decoration is a little blurred, which is often the case with
these early printed wares.

On the other side of the bowl are two further blue
printed decorative landscapes, between which fly two birds. The scene to the
left shows an exotic island, complete with trees and a temple. The birds fly off
towards another landscape of trees and hills. These printed blue decorations
are quite crisp and clear. The fine details of the
trees and the birds is remarkable.
Inside the bottom of the bowl there is a spray of blue
flowers and around the inside edge of the rim is a double blue line border
completing the beautiful decoration of this charming bowl.

The bowl sits on a high raised circular foot rim that is
triangular in section. It is marked with the underglaze blue hatched crescent
mark of the Worcester factory.
