An attractive Caughley teapot lid, decorated in blue and gilt formal 'Dresden' style flowers, c1785. It is a low flat circular shape with fluted mouldings.

The rich underglaze blue and gilt decoration include rose bud and other type of flower sprigs evenly placed around the lid. There is a rich blue and gilt border to the rim. The lid's finial is of a moulded button shape which is gilded.

Condition:

This Caughley teapot lid is in good condition with no cracks, repairs or restoration. the only very minor imperfection are the two minute chips on the rim, as shown below, plus a little wear to the gilding on the button finial. It would be perfect for a teapot of this design that is lacking it's lid.
