A very attractive Caughley coffee can, c1790. It is charmingly
decorated with a neo-classical design of 'gilt star and husk swags' in fine
gilding.
The coffee can has a smooth shaped body and has an open loop handle
the outer body of the coffee can is elegantly decorated with a gilt 'star and
husk' festoon pattern, which includes a central gilded star inside an oval husk
wreath. the wreath is hanging by a gilded loop from a husk border which runs
round the rim of the coffee can. this star decoration is repeated four
times around the coffee can. the star wreaths are linked with a husk garland.
Around the base portion of the coffee can and repeated around
the inner rim, is a gilded scrolling decoration.
The rim of the coffee can is gilded and the open loop handle
also has gilt embellishments.
This is a charming Caughley Coffee Can, decorated in the
elegant 'golden star and husk festoon' pattern, c1790.

Marks:
there are no manufacturer's marks on this coffee can. It does show the
characteristic glaze free line round the underside foot rim and is from the
Caughley factory c1790.
This delightfully elegant Caughley Coffee can is in excellent condition with
no chips, cracks, repairs or restoration. The gilt decoration is in very good
order. It is a very fine Caughley Coffee can for the connoisseur collector of
Caughley porcelain or Early English wares.
